## About this site

A search layer over a public state register. Not IDFPR, not legal advice, and not a judgement on anyone.

### The source

Everything here comes from the Illinois Department of Financial and
Professional Regulation's
 Professional Licensing dataset on
the State of Illinois open data portal, under the
 Open Data Commons Open
Database License , collected on **2026-08-20**.

### ⚠️ The scope: active licences only

The source holds 4,392,883 rows covering 3,869,845 licences. Most are not
live — 2,020,966 were never renewed, and others are expired, cancelled,
surrendered or held by someone who has died. This site loads the
**1,249,194** that IDFPR marks active.

That is partly practical: 3.87 million entries do not fit in a static search
index. It is also the honest scope for the question this register answers —
*can this person practise today?* But it has a consequence worth
stating: **absence from this site is not evidence that someone never held
a licence**, only that they hold no active one now.

### Where the site stops on purpose

IDFPR publishes the reason for every disciplinary action, including unpaid
taxes, child support arrears and defaulted student loans. No page here attaches
a sanction to a name, and none carries a reason; the counts are published
because a rate describes the system rather than a person.

snapshot, and it covers less.
